“Like a Ferris wheel, the nature of design is cyclical…ever changing, ever evolving, always turning back upon itself.” – J.C. Hryb
Born in Versailles, Style de Vie owner and house designer John-Christophe (J.C.) Hryb has always been drawn to the cyclical nature of design. His first business foray into design is a clear example of this. By sourcing and transforming vintage postcards/print ads into unique and edgy art pieces, J.C. made Retro style photos into a new and relevant design incarnation. It’s J.C’s ability to identify these occurrences – to see what lies ahead of the trend before its arrival, that keeps the house of Style de Vie as a “go to” source for designers and architects.
With his business school background in marketing, J.C. understands the business behind the industry. He is driven by the desire to take a concept, product or brand and make it the most marketable via design. He knows that every space holds the potential for an amazing experience and it is J.C.’s calling to transform that potential into a reality.
Very few interiors designers say they can build something; actually build something with their own two hands. J.C. is one of those rare few. Having owned and operated furnishing fabrication factories, J.C. has a complete knowledge of fabrication that allows him to create furnishings that are functional and artistic, in the most cost efficient way.
J.C.’s personal take on design is clean and modern with a rawness or an edge to it. There’s always an element of subtle surprise in his rooms or furnishings. A perfectly balanced space with a hint of asymmetry, an unexpected use of a texture or material, a brilliant use of color breathing life into a room – these are the hallmarks of his design sensibilities.
J.C.’s design mantra is, “Intrigue to create interest with design and dare to express the client’s individual personality.”
